| Työväen Akatemia is an institution of general education and basic university studies. It is located in six hectacres of arboretum in Kauniainen, 16 kilometres from the centre of Helsinki. At the heart of the college is an Art Nouveau, Jugend style main building. The campus also has superb teaching and accommodation facilities and a media centre- library. The college offers open university and higher polytechnic studies in the following fields: History, Humanistic, International, Language and culture, Creative writing, Law, Psychology, Educational science, Drama, Sosial science.
Approximately, 250 students are there all year, studying on a full year course. In addition, the campus also contains Humak UAS Kauniainen unit with 160 students, training to be cultural producers. International projects
The Workers' Academy is involved in EU-projects with topics related to democracy, multiculturalism and cultural awareness. The Nordic Council of Ministers, has funded immigration and Scandinavian history-related projects. The Academy also collaborates with several other European adult education and trade union institutions.
Maturing in the European Labor MarketThe Academy participates with the German Trade Union Confederation, DGB Hessen to coordinate the project, which aims to extend the working life of the older population. The project also involves the Polish trade union Solidarnosc Poznan.

GRUNDTVIG 2 - ROI - ”Recycling Old Icons – From a Classic Play to Modern Language”... is a two-year learning partnership project co-ordinated by the Workers’ Academy involving the French university de Nice Sophia Anntipolis, Lettres, Arts et Sciences Humaines, Swedish Folk High School Arbetarrörelsens Folkhögskola in Göteberg and German adult education organisation Arbeit und Leben, Hamburg e.V.

GRUNDTVIG 2 - PULSE - Perceptions and Understanding through Life Stories in Europe2006 - 2008 What do people think about the different countries of European identity ? Why people in their dealing with Europe are fearful, skeptical, open or hopeful? What stages of life have been affected by the formation of opinion ? The project collected through interviews the life stories of a variety of young people from different European countries. By comparing them the project tried to understand European diversity, differences and also a common background.

L.L.L.A. Life-long Learning Animators2002-2003 EU- project was coordinated by Arbetarrörelsens folkhögskola i Göteborg and partners are The Workers’ Academy, Raseborg-opisto, Heimvolkschule Springe (Germany), Comisión Obrera Nacional de Catalunya CCOO (Spain) and the Federation of Societies for the dissemination of knowledge (Bulgaria). During the project, each partner organized the trade union activists and adult educators seminars designed to educate lifelong learning instructors. Project web site
Active Citizenship in Folk High Schools.2006-2007 A project funded by the Board of Education which involved four Folk High School:

- Svenska Österbottens Folk Academy Sweden, Sweden
- Työväen Akatemia, Finland
- Siikaranta-opisto, Finland.
The aim of the project was to develop in these four active but very different colleges practical knowledge of how to teach active citizenship.
Our Common Nordic Identity2006-2007 The aim of this project was to view the common and different factors that make link and separate the Nordic States.
