Welcome to the Työväen Akatemia / Workers’ Academy. Here you will find more information about our facilities and the services that we can offer. We would love to see you soon!
The Työväen Akatemia is a folk high school, set up in 1924 to provide university level education to working adults. During the academic year, our students can take one-year courses in a range of humanistic subjects, from history to law and from psychology to languages.
Our new fast-track Towards a Professional Working Life integration training programme (K05755) will begin in January 2024. The training lasts one academic year and includes up to 67 academic credits.
The purpose of the training: The purpose of the training is to strengthen the social inclusion of immigrants and to help educated immigrants find employment in expert positions and/or receive additional training at Finnish universities.
The Akatemia offers a wide range of conference, meeting and teaching spaces. We can accommodate the needs of your group, whether you need a small group working space or a large room for up to 200 people.
The Akatemia has its own professional kitchen where the friendly and highly skilled staff prepare delicious food to suit any occasion. For visitors, they can offer a lavish breakfast buffet, and a delicious lunch selection as well as coffee, tea and tasty snacks throughout the day. Dinner and evening snacks can be organized for overnight guests as needed
Our cozy campus hotel contains 20 ensuite twin rooms. All rooms are on the same level and some are suitable for guests with disabilities. Rooms overlook either our small forest or the peaceful courtyard garden.
The hotel has its own well-equipped kitchen and a private lounge area with television. Our traditional Finnish saunas are in the hotel area, and on chilly evenings you can enjoy a real log fire in the fireplace room. Guests can make use of the other facilities on campus, including the outdoor barbecue, the gym and various other sporting facilities.
