Our campus

The Akatemia is set in six hectares of beautiful gardens and woodland in Kaunianen, just 16 kilometres from the centre of Helsinki.

Tranquility in the middle of nature. Although we are close to the capital, our grounds offer peace and quiet and a safe space to relax or play. You can enjoy our gardens all year round, and in season you can pick berries and mushrooms in our forest. If you are lucky, you may spot deer, red squirrels or woodpeckers, amongst the regular visitors to our grounds.

Historic buildings and modern facilities. At the heart of our activities is the historic Jugend-style main building, Villa Pelander, with its beautiful interiors and relaxing terrace.  Here you will find the reception and office facilities as well as our restaurant, where our friendly kitchen staff serve up delicious meals and snacks, tailored to meet special requests and diets if needed.

Dotted around the campus are a series of elegant and more modern buildings, which house accommodation, meeting and teaching rooms, as well as the library. Our meeting and teaching rooms are well equipped with AV equipment, and WiFi is available throughout the campus.

Sports and leisure  There is plenty to do at the Akatemia! In the grounds, we have courts for volleyball and badminton, as well as mini-golf and Frisbee facilities. There is plenty of space for games on our many grassy lawns, or on our small playing field. Take a traditional Finnish sauna and enjoy the cool breeze in the garden, or the warmth of a real log fire in the fireplace room.

Just a short walk away, you will find various sporting venues such as a swimming hall, slalom ski slope, skating track, sports field, ice rink and ball sports halls. Walking paths from the campus take you to through picturesque housing areas to beautiful Lake Gallträsk with its trails and exercise facilities.

The many other services and attractions of Kauniainen and the Capital Region are easy to access by public transport, and we have plenty of parking for those who wish to arrive with their own vehicle.
